Q1. Have you ever had an experience of the power of the Holy Spirit? Share with the group what happened and the impact it made on you and your community?
Q2. Darren said in his sermon he felt we could do church quite happily without the power of the Holy Spirit. Do you agree or disagree with his statement?
Q3. Verse 11 of 1 Corinthians says it is the Spirit who distributes all spiritual gift. "He alone decides which gift each person should have". On what basis do you think he makes his decisions.
Q4. How do you go about giving gifts to your family and friends? What makes a good gift giver?
Q5. The Holy Spirit not only gives gifts but empowers the gifts. Darren suggested that it is possible to have a gift but for it to remain dormant and unlocked. He said this is what Jesus taught about in the parable of the talents - Matthew 25:14-30.
Q6. Darren said in his sermon that the Spirit makes his decisions to give and empower his gifts based on five things close to his heart. How are you doing in each of these areas?
- How we speak about Jesus
- How we love others
- How we seek to build others up
- Do we think and act wisely
- Is your life one of God-honouring orderliness
The Holy Spirit is far more concerned about your character that he is your giftedness. Your character is the crucible in which his power can be channelled.
